A Step-By-Step Guide for a Successful Wedding Morning

As someone who has witnessed wedding mornings for the last 15 years, I’ve seen the gamut of anywhere from absolute chaos to calm waters on a wedding day. The morning of your wedding sets the tone for the rest of your day. I want you to pause here and think, “How do I want to feel when I get married?”

I guarantee frazzled, confused, stressed, anxious, nervous, or drained weren’t on that list (or shouldn’t be!). So, let’s design a wedding morning that makes you feel like you should: confident, ecstatic, relaxed, and eager.

At Miss Lyss Planning, we believe in proactive planning and having a positive planning experience right down to the little details that make you feel the most confident walking down the aisle.

To ensure that you have more chill vibes than your iced latte, here is my best advice for a successful wedding morning, step-by-step:

  1. Don’t go too hard the night before at rehearsal (we know, it’s exciting and all starting to finally feel real, but take it easy and drink lots of water)

  1. Don’t procrastinate until the night before to wrap up loose ends (pack decor, write vows, run errands, steam attire, etc.)

(minor touch-ups are okay, but don't do this with curled hair!)

  1. Communicate arrival times and expectations to the wedding party before the morning of. Ensure they have all the accessories and attire pieces necessary!

  1. Follow the prep given to you by your beauty teams (dry, clean hair and faces) and do your best to stay on schedule. Any feedback you have for your stylists on things you want to change from a trial, be sure to communicate that in advance. Also, assign someone else to make sure your wedding party are ready and prepared to stay on schedule.

  1. Curate a playlist that makes you feel good (if that’s coffee shop vibes or 90s dance throwbacks, it’s your day)

  2. Drink plenty of water and ensure you, and everyone else, eat breakfast and lunch!

    1. Bananas and pineapple are great for digestion and avoiding water retention.

    2. To limit bloating, avoid dairy (sorry smoothies!) and limit booze (sorry mimosas!).

    3. Sandwich wraps and pinwheels are an easy, light, and filling lunch

    4. Avoid greasy foods (like wings, pizza, nuggets)...looking at you groomsmen!

  3. Give yourself plenty of time in the morning to get where you need to go whether that's a drive across town to get from the hotel to the venue, or heading to a church. Give yourself plenty of time in case of surprise traffic or delays.

  1. Communication is always key. Be sure that the people you select to be around you that morning are lifting you up, supporting you, and being your biggest cheerleaders. If you know in advance some folks (maybe crazy aunt or cousin) may bring you down, communicate that with others who may be able to help mitigate or limit your interactions with them. You are the sole protector of your peace.

We’ll always be here to help support you in the ways you need on your wedding.

Wishing you all the best!

Cheers,

Miss Lyss Planning
