To celebrate Miss Lyss Planning's 5-year anniversary, we're taking a trip down memory lane and reminiscing on our some of the most memorable weddings we've been a part of. This was so hard to narrow it down to just five, but each of these weddings just keeps being replayed in our heads and hearts.
Sarah and Geoff called us after being recommended by the very talented Julianna Elizabeth Photography. Sarah is originally from Lancaster and wanted to return home for the wedding. The couple was living in Brooklyn, NY but Geoff was on a work assignment in Oklahoma, so not only was the wedding not nearby for their planning, but they were long-distance across the country themselves!
Sarah and Geoff, both lawyers, love hiking and nature. They are also very involved with their communities and loved the idea of the community being part of their wedding. This led them to have their ceremony in Buchanan Park in Lancaster, PA. Intentionally, they wanted to be in nature, and anyone who wanted to witness could. The cherry on top is that they can revisit where they got married, anytime they want to! How romantic would that be; a picnic where you got married for every anniversary!
A week before their ceremony was set to take place, their officiant shared that they contracted COVID and would not be able to officiate their wedding. That's okay, they would officiate the wedding themselves!
What could have been disastrous, turned out beautiful. Sarah and Geoff indeed married themselves, "And now, I am going to kiss my wife" was the coolest thing I've ever seen!
The bouquets and arrangements were made by Sarah and her friends and family the day before. Picked up from a local flower farm, Riverside Blooms, the ladies spent a day together, making memories. Then, at the end of the night, guests were welcomed to take flowers which our team bundled up for easy transport.
Guests were then transported back to the Lancaster Arts Hotel and John J. Jeffries Restaurant, where Sarah worked throughout high school and college, to enjoy cocktail hour on the patio while the couple snuck off for their portraits in the park.
Upon their return to the rest of the wedding, Sarah and Geoff asked their closest friends for speeches on the patio and offered guests fresh champagne - a welcomed treat on a warm day.
Following what was our most delicious wedding meal (sorry caterers, but restaurants make it just soooo fresh!), Sarah and Geoff shared their first dance underneath the wisteria-covered pergola, serenaded by Central City Orchestra. The band then kept guests dancing all night long!
The reason why Sarah and Geoff's wedding makes our Top 5 in 5 Years is because the intentionality behind everything was so beautiful, heartfelt, and authentic to them.
Congratulations to you, Sarah and Geoff! It was a wedding we'll never forget!
